The text below was in the AP article on Taqwacore.
"The bands have noticed Latino punks getting into their music. Al-Thawra recently picked up a guitarist from Mexico City named Mario Salazar. The cover of Al-Thawras next album will feature the image of the U.S.-Mexico border fused with Israels West Bank separation barrier."
Is it just me or will this quickly become immigrant punk? Or is this just some simple musing of a complex problem.
I think the message here is that the US is bad, bad, bad. We must be. After all, the health of are own working economy should be a secondary consideration to the plight of the failed economy in Mexico. I wonder, why dont these kids get off their asses and go in to science or economics and use their "specialiness" to solve Mexicos problems. Or, maybe they dont really give a shit and its a lot easier to pawn off cheap entertainment.
