The Cool Games War
Punk Arcade is the creator and the first website to concieve of the cool games war. The cool games war is a struggle between Punk Arcade and other gaming websites who are attempting to stake their claim as the definitive website to find COOL GAMES. This has led to some interesting insights in to what cool games are and how the world chooses them. As we have suggested before.. there may not be any "cool games' (except in the abstract) but only cool websites. This is one of the first known conflicts to be known as a web war. Punk Arcade is the original home of the Cool Games war. The struggle continues.
Punk, Punk Rock and Punk Arcade
Is Punk Arcade punk? Well... yes. We are very philosophical about this. We belive ourselves to be on the cutting edge of what "punk" is. Lets just say. when the culture is punk.. from school, to films, to websites to the president and the whole popular culture... then its not very 'punk'. The establishment has become 'punk', so in a sense we are anti-punk.
As far as punk rock music goes, authenticity is the keyword. Punk and punk rock music are a historical event that occured in the 70's. That punk has impacted society on many levels including the popular culture is a historical fact. But our belieif is that it occured in a finite space of time and thus the music from that time is really the only true punk rock. You may be looking for "post punk arcade".
First and foremost, Punk Arcade is about games. But sprinkled here and there are some punk musings and suggestions. Enjoy.
